Reformation 2009
We had a great time on Saturday. There was no rain and plenty of warm weather. We just hit our street and got to meet a few of our neighbors. There were TONS of people hitting our neighborhood too! The locals were definitely out numbered.
When we got home, we turned our lights on and handed out candy. Daniel enjoyed this more than going door to door. When the door bell rang, Daniel would jump up and run to the door and hand out two pieces to everyone. Then when we ran out of candy, Daniel went to his stash he had collected and started handed out his candy!

Catch Up
We have been having lots of fun around here. It is nice that the weather is cooler and the all day sickness is slowly going away.
Here are some fun things we have been up to!
He was more excited than this photo shows!

The Jesus Storybook Bible Deluxe Edition Coming Out Next Month
We read the Jesus Storybook Bible every night before bed. Even if I wanted to skip a night, my kids won't let me! Here's why we love this kid's Bible so much, and why you will too:
- A good overview of redemptive history for children can be hard to find. For that matter, a good overview of redemptive history for adults can be hard to find. So whether you're 3, 23, 43, or 73 you'll love reading through many of the stories of Scripture as they all tell one big narrative--the story of creation, fall and God's plan to rescue and re-create!
- Seeing all of Scripture as pointing to God's work in the Messiah is not usually a hallmark of children's Bibles. In the Jesus Storybook Bible, though, "every story whispers his name."
- Kid-friendly artwork that doesn't look cheesy takes incredible skill. Apparently Jago, the artist behind the Jesus Storybook Bible, has that incredible skill. Your kids will love looking at the pictures while you read the stories.
- Most children's Bibles try to rhyme everything. The Jesus Storybook Bible is not one of those. It's refreshing to read quality children's literature. Sally Lloyd-Jones has a gift for writing to children. You'll enjoy reading it just as much as (if not more than) your children will enjoy listening to it.
I recently taught a class for teachers at our church, and I encouraged all of them to go to our book table and buy a copy of the Jesus Storybook Bible...for themselves! If you don't yet own the Jesus Storybook Bible, you need to.

Friday at the Beach
This past weekend, we got to spend some time with our good friends, the Helms. We had a relaxing dinner of hamburgers and all the trimmings. Then it was around the corner to the beach. The kids loved every minute of it. It also happened to be the same weekend that hurricane Bill was coming up the coast. It made for some bigger waves and good times!
